The Hamilton County Virtual School will be hosting summer school opportunities for all Hamilton County students in grades 6-12. The flexibility that virtual learning provides will help ensure Success for All Students as they work to recover credits or to take courses that they would not have the opportunity to take during the regular school year. In order for such a nontraditional format of summer school to be successful, it is essential that we communicate pertinent information to all students, parents and faculty members of Hamilton County Schools.
High school students may take a maximum of two Carnegie credits during summer session.
As in the past we will only accept cash or money order for summer school fees, $190/.5 Carnegie Credit, plus $10 registration fee per .5 credit. In addition, students will be required to have the signature of their respective OF, administrator, or guidance counselor and parent on their summer school registration form.

A limited number of scholarships are available for students who receive free or reduced lunch. In order to qualify for a full scholarship the student must receive free lunch services. Students receiving full scholarships are required to pay a $50 fee per .5 credit that is refundable upon successful completion of each .5 credit. In order to receive a 50% scholarship the student must receive reduced lunch services. A single student may only receive two scholarships regardless of whether he/she receives free or reduced lunch. If a student has defaulted on a scholarship previously he/she is not eligible for another one.
The majority of HCVS courses do not require physical presence. For the most part, all work can be done online with the following exception: Algebra I, Biology, English 10, Physical Science, English 9 and American History either require a Gateway exam or an End of Course exam. These exams must be taken on the state testing dates.
Please contact Brenda Fields to order the appropriate number of tests.
